How does Black Orchid Boudoir Studio differ from other photographers who offer boudoir sessions?

I understand the personal nature of a boudoir session and how much time and courage it takes someone to actually step in front of a camera and bare it all. With this in mind, I take the extra time to build relationships with you before you ever step in front of my camera. The more we are familiar with each other the more comfortable you’ll be the day of your shoot. In addition to building relationships before your shoot, I have meticulously created an intimate space, in my private studio, where I can ensure you’ll have the utmost privacy and security. Since we are not confined to time constraints, we are able to offer in-house hair and makeup and we can take our time moving through your session. The goal is for you to feel comfortable and relaxed the entire time we’re together.

Where does the photoshoot take place?

As of April 23, 2024, all sessions will be held at Mill Street Studios in The Lifestyle Studio and Hampton Studio spaces.

Do you shoot anywhere besides Mill Street Studios?

The short answer is no, usually not. However, I will make exceptions depending on the request and additional travel fees will apply.

When do you schedule photoshoots?

I shoot Monday through Friday and on some Saturdays and follow the standard federal holiday schedule.

How long will I be there?

The average person spends about 4 hours with me. We start with hair and makeup, then your photoshoot, and finally the same-day image reveal and product order session.

What types of photography do you shoot?

Traditionally I lean towards a moody true to color style of photography for individuals or couples. Additionally, I will shoot full nudity (but no genitals) and suggestive nudes.

Do I need to buy my own wardrobe?

Yes! You are responsible for providing your own wardrobe for your photoshoot. I encourage everyone to purchase all their pieces and have them at least 2 weeks prior to your photoshoot to ensure they fit properly and if not you’ll still have plenty of time to repurchase pieces that you love. Once you have booked your shoot I will send a list of places to purchase your items from. I do have speciality pieces that are available for you to use, such as body jewelry and beautiful robes.

Do I have to pay extra for professional hair and makeup?

Not at all! Your session fee includes complimentary hair and makeup services.

Do I need to have prior modeling experience?

Absolutely not. Most of my clients are everyday average women who have never done anything like this before. You don’t have to worry about posing, professional posing and direction comes with your boudoir session.

When will I see my photos?

You will see your photos 48-72 hours prior to your photoshoot. In the following days, I will process your images and prepare your proofing gallery. We will meet via Google Meet or Zoom, where we’ll go through every image. During this session you will select your favorites and order any collection or other print products you are interested in purchasing. The images you purchase will be fully colored and retouched at no additional cost.

How much retouching is done to the images?

These photographs are a representation of you and should look like you. I keep the editing very natural with a nice, soft airbrushed finish on the skin. The only things I remove from your skin are temporary marks such as, blemishes, scratches, bruises, etc. I leave things like permanent scars (unless you specifically request them to be removed), stretch marks, birthmarks and other features I believe are part of your beauty.

Will my photos be shared with the public?

I only share images that you give me signed permission to share. At the end of the photo reveal session I will have you complete a questionnaire that will either give me permission to share all of your images, some of your images, or none of your images. If you are viewing images used in advertising, on social media, or on my website the person in the photo has given me permission to use it for that particular medium.

What products do you offer?

The studio’s most popular products are the luxury album collections. Each album is designed specifically to what you want. Our metal wall art is another popular product our clients absolutely love. We offer these in a variety of sizes to fit your particular wall size. Acrylic blocks, viewfinders, and other print products are available as well.

Will I receive the digital files?

The digital files are automatically included with every album purchase. Whatever images you select for your album will be included in an online gallery where you’ll be able to download the low resolution files to share how you see fit. Digital-only collections are also available upon request.

How will I receive my products?

You can either come to my office to collect your finished products. This is my favorite part of the entire process. I love watching people flip through their albums and seeing their wall art for the first time. The emotions they experience takes them back to the day of their photoshoot. Don’t worry, if you live out of town or would prefer your products to be shipped, I will happily ship your finished products to your home at no additional charge.

How long does it take to get my finished products?

I advise everyone to allow up to 4-6 weeks to receive your final products. I personally edit each of your images to ensure your privacy is being maintained. I also use a woman-only vendor for all my products. The timeline is usually shorter, however I quote this time frame in case there is a delay in processing or shipping for any reason. In case you need your product(s) by a certain date, it is better to be safe and make sure you’re scheduling your session with enough time to receive your items on time.

I want to shoot with you, but I’m traveling from out of town. How would this work?

No problem! You only need to come to the studio once. We’ll y your photoshoot, image reveal, and ordering session all in the same day. Once I have received your order and performed my quality control check, I’ll ship your products to your home.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! The obvious method is to pay for your products once you have selected your photos and product(s). You have the option is to set up a pre-session installment plan that will break up your payments leading up to your photoshoot. All payment plans have to be complete at least 30 days prior to your session.
